Columbia
Elementary School is holding its own Procession of the Species parade on May 8th
from 2:40 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
All
grades, K-5 are participating in the parade.
The parade will be held outside near the play shed and continue around
the play area on school property.
The
Procession of the Species parade originated out of Olympia and has spread
throughout the state in order to raise awareness of endangered species and to
celebrate differences. Participants follow
three rules. The first rule is no
written words or signs, the second is no live animals, and the third is no
motorized vehicles. The second and third
rules are not expected to be a problem for participants at Columbia Elementary.
So
far, school officials have named their favorite costumes as a couple of snails
and a wolf.
